SALON POLICIES
At Diaspora Salon, our goal is to provide professional, innovative, and quality hair care services for all clients. Before requesting or making an appointment, please take the time to thoroughly read our policies, as no exceptions apply. CANCELLATION POLICY
In order to offer fantastic services at fabulous prices, we ask for at least 48 hours notice to cancel, reschedule, or make any changes to your appointment. We understand that sometimes life gets in the way and last-minute cancellations are beyond your control. Please know that this prevents us from filling your appointment slot with another customer. When making appointments, Diaspora Salon reserves the right to collect a deposit or credit card information, which may be charged in the event of a last minute cancellation or no- show. Cancellations with a 24 hour notice will be billed at 50% of the service/s scheduled. Same day cancellations will be billed at 100% of the scheduled service/s. No shows will also be charged 100% of the service scheduled. More than 2 no- shows equal a permanent ban from receiving services at Diaspora Salon.
Please note: This policy also applies to the canceling of additional services. If you are scheduled for more than one service during your appointment time and decide to decline a service you were scheduled for, proper notice must be given, with respect to the above mentioned time guidelines. Otherwise, you will be charged for the services you booked.
TARDINESS
We schedule with accuracy and our clients love us for that. For us to accomodate each patron in a timely manner, we ask that you be on time for your appointment. Life happens and if you are running a few minutes behind, we can hold your appointment for up to 15 minutes provided we hear from you. After 20 minutes we reserve the right to cancel your appointment and charge the full cost of the services booked.
CONSULTATIONS
We ask that all new clients fill out our Consultation Form prior to your appointment. In- person consultations are performed at the beginning of your appointment. Stand alone consultations without a service are not available unless it's for a bride-to-be, or for loc extensions.
CURLY CUTS & CURLY STYLING
Deva Cuts, Signature Curly Cuts Wash & Gos, and Curl Discovery services performed by Yasmine Young are for 100% curly/ coily/ wavy natural hair with the natural curl pattern in tact. Hair that has been altered by a relaxer or heat (flat irons, straightening) is not eligible for curly styling unless you want the straight parts cut off. Should you desire a Deva or Curly Cut, please read how to prepare for your appointment here. There are NO exceptions for preparation for our Specialty Hair Cuts. Not following these guidelines may cause your appointment to be cancelled upon arrival (which would amount to being charged the full amount of the service, and/ or additional fees incurred). Please note: Deva Cuts are for those who wear their hair in it's naturally wavy, curly, or coily state. Signature Curly Cuts are for those that like to alternate between the Wash and Go and other loose hairstyles.
GUESTS
Due to limited space and for the comfort of all clients, guests, including children are not permitted to be present during a client's appointment time. If a client arrives with a guest, we can refer the guest to a few restaurants, museums and ships in the area, but they will not be able to sit and stay during your salon visit.
FOOD
Outside food is strictly prohibited in the salon. Additionally, clients are not to discard any outside food within the salon.
CHILDREN
16 and over.
REMOVAL OF PREVIOUS STYLES
All styles must be removed prior to clients’ scheduled appointment or the appointment will be cancelled and the client will be charged. Please arrive with your hair out.
ALLERGIES, MEDICAL CONDITIONS, MEDICATIONS
We kindly ask that you advise us of any illness, injury or changes to your health status prior to any services to be conducted. We cannot be held responsible if a client does not disclose pertinent health information.
PARKING
Please allow enough time to park. We offer complimentary parking on the building's private lot behind the salon. The lot is on a small, but widely open street that runs behind the salon called Morton Street. Morton sits between Charles and Maryland and is accessible from 24th Street. Our rear windows are decorated with white trimming. You will need to walk around to Charles Street to gain entry into the salon. Please note that neither Diaspora Salon, nor any of its employees, agents or contractors accepts liability for any theft or loss of, or damage, howsoever caused, to vehicles, accessories or contents incurred on the premises of our parking lot. Additionally, any liability of Diaspora Salon or any of its employees, agents or contractors for personal injury, howsoever caused, suffered by any entrants on the parking lot is hereby excluded to the fullest extent permitted by law.
For added convenience, street parking is available on Charles Street at a rate of $.50/ hour for 4 hours. Please do not park in Safeway’s lot or your car may be towed.
DEPOSITS
For certain services and appointments, we reserve the right to require a non- refundable deposit to book an appointment. Clients must follow our Cancellation Policy to cancel/ reschedule or any associated fees will be deducted from any deposits paid. Deposits are non- refundable and can held for 60 days before forfeiture.
PAYMENT
We accept cash, credit and debit cards. We do not accept checks.
